Henry Looking

Description

Henry was living on the streets of Tijuana when he was rescued by A New Life Charitable Foundation and brought to San Diego.

Henry suffered with a severe head tilt for a very long time. The vet determined that he double ear infections. The tilt has gotten much better since he received the medication.

He was also on a 30 day course of antibiotics to treat ehrlichia, which is an infection caused by ticks.

Despite his health challenges, Henry survived the streets of Mexico and was able to find food. He is not underweight or malnourished.

Henry gets tacrolimus, an eye medication, twice a day to treat his pigmentary keratitis. This condition causes a brownish discoloration of the cornea. He has spots in the eye where he cannot see. He will often turn his head to gaze at you. The vet has assured us this condition is managed with tacrolimus and will stop any further vision impairment. Henry can see but the vision is just hindered by the spots.

Henry had to protect his food and must be separated from other dogs at feeding time. He can also be vocal and let you know he does not want a belly band on or to be picked up if he has not agreed. He growls but has never attempted to bite. Henry is very food motivated. We are hopeful that this behavior will subside once he feels safe.

Poor guy just needs much more time living the good life and feeling secure. Henry loves the creature comforts of a human bed and is a very good snuggler.

Henry will need a special family that is patient and give him the extra support he needs to blossom.
