Adopt a Pug
Ready to give a pug their forever home? Learn how our adoption process works and see what it takes to welcome one of these amazing dogs into your life.
Foster a Pug
Not ready to adopt, but still want to help? Fostering gives a pug in need a safe place to land while they wait for a permanent home.
How Our Adoption Process Works
Adopting a pug is an incredible act of love — and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Start by filling out our adoption application
One of our volunteers will reach out to schedule a home visit
After your home check, we’ll add you to our waitlist
You’ll be matched with a pug based on your lifestyle and flexibility
Adoption fees range from $50 to $800 depending on the pug’s age and medical needs
Most of our rescues are adults or seniors — puppies are rare but rewarding when they come along
Good things take time, but giving a rescued pug a loving home is always worth it.
Why Fostering Makes All the Difference
Fostering saves lives. Every time you open your home to a pug in need, you make space for another one to be rescued.
We provide the food, supplies, and vet care — you provide the love and a safe space
Most foster placements last 2 to 6 weeks
You’ll get to know the pug and help prepare them for adoption
We offer full support and guidance throughout the process
Fostering is perfect for those who can’t adopt but still want to make a difference
Help a pug on their journey to their forever home.
The ABC's of adopting from Pug Rescue of San Diego County (PRSDC):
- We are not a “place” where you can see Pugs for adoption. They are with their foster parents and it is too disturbing to have people in and out of their homes every day.
- Our process starts with the adoption application. Please fill one out (see link below).
- A volunteer will contact you and schedule a time for someone to come to your home for a “housecheck”.
- You will then be placed on a waiting list.
- You are more likely to adopt a Pug sooner if you are flexible about age, color, and gender.
- We rarely get puppies, so, if you want a puppy, you may have a long wait.
- Adoption fees range from $50 to $800 and depend on the age and health status of the Pug.
- Anyone renting or who is a member of a Homeowner’s Association must submit proof that pets are allowed.
Remember that all good things are worth waiting for!
